It's Freezing Cold
I really don't have much to blog about this week. Other than the incredibly cold temperatures here, everything else has been pretty normal. Last week I headed to work in -44 degree windchill. That is officially the coldest I have ever been. The air temperature here reached -29 degrees last week- that doesn't even factor in windchill. Even penguins would be cold. The day that we reached twenty-nine below was the coldest day in recorded history for Davenport. How lucky that Brett and I could be here for that. :-P <---Note the sarcasm.
I hope that everyone reading this is warmer than we are right now. ;-)

Happy New Year!
I just wanted to take a moment to wish everyone a happy 2009!
We rang in the new year with our friends Meggan and Dusty and their son Jaden. We hung out, played games, and had a good time.
I'm not big on New Year's resolutions because I tend to break them and then I just get mad at myself. This is why I never make them. However this year, my goal for myself that just so happens to coincide with the new year is to try a new recipe every week. Last week we tried Rachael Ray's Nacho Bread Pizzas which were excellent. This week we are really outdoing ourselves by trying three new recipes: Vegetarian Shepherd's Pie, Tortilla Soup, and Vegetarian Sloppy Joes. I'm excited to see how they turn out.
P.S. I added some new things to the sidebar of my blog. I added a "Currently Reading" section for those of you dying to know what's on my bookshelf these days, and a section for "This Week's New Recipe" in the hopes that blogging about it will somehow make me more accountable. :) For those of you getting e-mail blog updates, you will have to actually go to the blog to see these things.
Happy New Year everyone! I wish you all a wonderful and blessed 2009!
